Counsellor - University Counselling Centre

About the role

NTU's University Counselling Centre is looking for a Counsellor to support student wellbeing and mental health. You will provide counselling to undergraduate and graduate students and work with internal and external stakeholders to build a campus-wide approach to mental health.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver professional counselling, including risk and need assessments and intervention plans, in person or online
• Facilitate case formulation, prepare assessment reports, give case presentations and refer to social services organisations
• Co-manage sensitive crisis cases with more experienced practitioners
• Advise staff on concerns about at-risk students
• Design, develop and run wellbeing training and annual wellbeing projects
• Maintain clinical records, adhere to legal and ethical standards, protect client confidentiality and data privacy
• Take part in quality improvement projects and data analysis to improve mental health support
• Work with schools, halls of residence and the Support and Care Team, and in interdisciplinary teams with psychologists and SEN specialists
• Liaise with psychiatrists, doctors and social service agencies, and refer to external services such as family therapy
• Support the daily operations of the University Counselling Centre and perform additional duties as assigned

Required profile

• Master's degree in counselling; preferably a registered counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) or equivalent
• At least 3 years of professional counselling experience
• Experience with young adults, preferably in an educational setting
• Experience in multi-disciplinary teams is advantageous
• Good attention to detail, strong organisational and multitasking skills, and alignment with the SAC Code of Ethics
• Spoken Mandarin is an advantage
