Customer Engineer Manager

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Customer Engineer Manager in Singapore. The role manages customer relationships and the customer engineers in its district, acts as the main interface with product divisions, and covers account planning, financial forecasting and system installation.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district and carry out regular customer visits.
• Manage, coach and direct the customer engineers in the district, including salary and career planning, corrective actions, objectives and performance appraisals.
• Act as the main interface with Product Divisions: technical support, training, spares and reliability.
• Monitor the CSD Award Program (quarterly results) and the mentor program for new engineers.
• Execute escalations and manage the RMA procedure.
• Plan accounts with the District Sales Engineer and provide a support plan for system sales to CSD Management, Sales and Field Engineering.
• Provide financial forecasts and cost-efficiency measures for the district, measured by financial results.
• Handle system installation: planning, reporting, execution, pre-facility and start-up meetings, and process support identification.
• Track engineer hours, measure their effectiveness and take corrective action.

Required profile

• Ability to analyse situations and data and recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies.
• Management experience: giving direction to employees, administering company policies and measuring progress against objectives.
• Problem-solving within defined procedures and policies.
• Interpersonal skills: gaining cooperation of others and presenting technical information on projects and schedules.
• Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with them.
