Cyber Security Threat Detection & Incident Response Intern

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is seeking a proactive Cybersecurity Intern for its Regional Technology Information Security Team, within the Systems Office for Asia's Information Technology Risk Management department. The internship runs from 11 January 2027 to 30 June 2027 and offers hands-on exposure to Security Operations, Threat Detection, Incident Response and automation initiatives across the APAC region. The role is based in Singapore and is open to Singaporean and PR students only.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and manage security alerts and vulnerabilities in the IT environment
• Automate SOC tasks such as email threat analysis and IOC blocking using AI and automation tools
• Support monthly KRI reports by automating data collection and preparing metrics, dashboards and reports
• Take part in incident response: investigation, containment and recovery of cyber incidents
• Monitor security events daily and analyse threats such as malware, vulnerability exploitation and denial-of-service attempts
• Manage the SOC mailbox, analyse suspected phishing emails and help triage or escalate alerts
• Maintain documentation such as SOPs, guidelines, workflows and process improvements

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Information Systems or a related field
• Knowledge of generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering and AI-assisted automation, with the ability to validate outputs
• Strong analytical thinking, data handling, communication and documentation skills, with awareness of data confidentiality and responsible AI use

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell or similar scripting languages
• Experience processing data, integrating APIs or automating operational workflows
