Data Governance Analyst

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is hiring a Data Governance Analyst in its Singapore office. The role supports the implementation and execution of Data Governance and Data Quality Management (DQM) activities across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, covering data quality monitoring, governance controls, stakeholder coordination, data analysis and the operationalization of global Data Governance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day Data Governance activities for the APAC region and maintain governance policies, procedures, operating manuals and artefacts.
• Organize and coordinate Data Governance working groups, prepare meeting materials and minutes, and track action items from regional and global forums.
• Support Change Management, periodic assessments and control activities, and help identify, document and escalate data quality issues.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and ad-hoc management reports and status updates for regional and global forums.
• Operate the Global Data Quality Management program: perform data profiling and analysis, run data harvesting, investigate data quality exceptions and analyze weekly and monthly DQM reports across branches.
• Coordinate with branch and regional stakeholders to obtain responses and remediation plans, and support remediation projects.
• Work with business and technology teams on process improvement, testing and data quality projects, and contribute to reporting automation and AI-enabled initiatives.

Required profile

• Fresh graduate or at least 1 year of experience in banking or financial services, with exposure to customer, account and transaction data.
• Hands-on experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Analytics or Data Management.
• Experience reviewing, remediating or managing data quality in a banking environment is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and across time zones.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Experience with Alteryx and/or Python/R for data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of Data Governance concepts such as Data Dictionaries, Key Data Elements (KDEs), Data Lineage and Data Quality Monitoring.
• Familiarity with AI tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot) and prompt engineering is an advantage.
