Data Center Technician

About the role

The Data Center Technician is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, storage and network equipment within a data‑center environment. You will work closely with the operations team and external vendors to ensure hardware reliability and optimal facility performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform weekly sweeps of server and storage equipment, detecting hardware and network connectivity issues.
• Collect and analyse IPMI‑SEL data and vendor‑specific platform logs.
• Diagnose connectivity problems, including transceiver and optical‑fiber signal strength, using established tools.
• Open and manage support cases with vendors such as HPE, Dell and IX.
• Coordinate break‑and‑fix activities, escort vendor contractors and oversee RMA processes for rPDUs, switches and field‑replaceable units.
• Provide hardware support for installations, moves, additions and changes.
• Decommission IT equipment (HDD/SSD, servers, storage, backup devices).
• Conduct physical inspections, manage inventory records and perform cycle counts.
• Update structured‑cabling documentation and oversee capacity management (space, power, cooling, patch‑panel ports).
• Follow incident and change management processes and submit regular activity reports.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred.
• 2 + years experience in an enterprise data‑center environment.
• CCNA and CCNP certifications preferred.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel up to 25 %.
• Fluent English communication skills.
