Data Engineer

About the role

Kyndryl runs and reimagines the mission-critical technology systems that drive advantage for leading businesses. As a Data Engineer in Singapore, you will design and build data platforms that turn raw data into actionable insights, ensuring clean, harmonized datasets are available to decision-makers. The role covers data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes and data virtualization, within an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy data tables, views and marts in data warehouses, operational data stores, data lakes and data virtualization.
• Extract, clean, transform and move data; web scraping may be part of the scope.
• Build, launch and maintain large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks.
• Integrate and collate data silos in a scalable and compliant way.
• Work with Project Managers, Data Architects, Business Analysts, Frontend Developers, Designers and Data Analysts to build scalable data-driven products.
• Develop backend APIs and work on databases supporting applications.
• Work in an Agile environment with Continuous Integration and Delivery, using pair programming and code reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience and a growth mindset, with a customer-focused approach.
• Experience building production-grade data pipelines and ETL/ELT integration.
• Experience with big data environments on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of system design, data structures and algorithms, and familiarity with REST APIs.
• Comfortable in Windows and Linux development environments.

• Data cleaning and transformation (e.g. SQL, pandas, R)
• ETL/ELT pipelines (SSIS, AWS DMS, AWS Lambda, ECS, EventBridge, AWS Glue, Spring)
• Databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
• Databricks and Microsoft Data Fabric
• Big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Web scraping (BeautifulSoup, CasperJS, PhantomJS, Selenium, Node.js)
• Data governance, access control and security best practices
