Data Scientist (Research & Analytics Division)

About the role

The National Jobs-Skills Data Office, part of the Research & Analytics Division of the National Skills Authority (SWDA), is hiring a Data Scientist. The office develops new data models and algorithms, manages jobs-skills products and data infrastructure, and supports employers, citizens, training providers and policymakers with trusted jobs-skills data and insights. You will join the Data and Algorithms Innovation and R&D team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy advanced analytical models using statistical and machine learning techniques, including feature engineering, model selection and validation with performance metrics
• Build scalable data infrastructure with modular, reusable data pipelines and prototype advanced analytics solutions
• Work with product and policy teams to turn data signals into insights that inform workforce and industry planning
• Improve existing methods, incorporate new data sources and strengthen model validation frameworks
• Support projects with internal divisions and external partners, turning stakeholder needs into clear data science problem statements
• Help build structured taxonomies, entity extraction pipelines and knowledge graph representations for the national jobs-skills data assets
• Stay current with emerging analytical techniques and tools

Required profile

• Background in data science, statistics, machine learning or a related quantitative discipline
• Experience applying analytical techniques to structured and unstructured datasets
• Proven track record of developing, evaluating and validating statistical or machine learning models
• Knowledge of labour market, workforce or skills-related data and analytics
• Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders such as policymakers and senior leadership
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining analytical rigor

Required skills

• Python and SQL for data analysis, modelling and data pipelines
• Natural language processing, language models or text analytics for unstructured text data
• Data visualization tools and techniques
