Defence Relations Manager (Joint)

About the role

The Defence Relations Manager (Joint) will work closely with MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to shape and execute defence‑relations strategies with key countries of interest. The role provides an overarching view of engagements across ministries to ensure alignment with Singapore’s strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee the defence‑relations calendar for senior SAF leadership.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align activities and messaging.
• Assess the impact of regional developments on SAF policy and operations.
• Develop deep expertise on each target country’s strategic dynamics, key issues, and perceptions of Singapore/SAF.
• Identify emerging trends, conduct research, synthesize information, and present informed recommendations.
• Prepare briefing materials, briefs, and briefing folders for senior decision‑makers.

Required profile

• Education in International Relations, Political Science, History, or related social‑science fields.
• Strong written and spoken English; additional language proficiency is a plus.
• Keen interest in Singapore’s political, geopolitical, defence, and security developments.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and an innovative mindset.
• Strategic thinking ability with capacity to deliver quick assessments.
