Deputy Director, Shared Services Unit (SSU)

About the role

The Deputy Director will support the Director of Finance in enhancing the operational effectiveness and governance of the Shared Services Unit (SSU), which delivers accounting and finance support to unions and associations. This senior position will work closely with the SSU team to drive coordination, improve processes, and ensure high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen operational coordination and service delivery across SSU portfolios, ensuring continuity, audit readiness and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Review and improve workflows, SOPs, templates and operational practices; develop and formalise governance documents such as Terms of Reference and Service Level Agreements.
• Engage unions and internal stakeholders on finance‑related matters, manage expectations and resolve complex or sensitive issues in partnership with the Unions Department and other teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred.
• 10–15 years of experience in finance operations, accounting, shared services or stakeholder‑facing finance environments.
• Proven experience leading teams and managing multi‑stakeholder operational functions.
• Background in process improvement, governance, audit, compliance, GST and financial reporting.
