Deputy/Assistant Manager, Bus Service Standards

About the role

This Deputy/Assistant Manager position sits in a team responsible for developing and administering frameworks, and for monitoring, analysing and reporting key performance indicators for bus service performance standards. The role ensures bus operators meet service quality standards and supports continuous improvement of bus service reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure bus operators meet service quality standards, including reviewing requests for exceptions and working within the regulatory framework
• Manage two key performance frameworks measuring bus service reliability, deciding assessment parameters and reviewing waiver submissions from operators
• Apply approved exclusions to the bus fleet management system and calculate annual incentives and adjustments for each operator
• Keep the bus management system up to date with accurate data and reports
• Develop new frameworks and standards for future bus services, such as autonomous buses
• Prepare regular performance reports and analysis for senior management
• Work with bus operators to improve service reliability and respond to public feedback on bus service quality
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Reporting Officer

Required profile

• Knowledge in statistics, business analytics, operations research or another discipline with strong quantitative or analytical components
• Self-motivated, resourceful and meticulous, able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience handling large datasets
• Willingness to conduct fieldwork and support operational activities and events as required

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Python) is an advantage
