Design Engineer

About the role

Trelleborg Singapore is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Research and Development team. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for delivering design, modelling and drafting tasks efficiently and on time, supporting both internal projects and client‑facing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for assigned projects.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure all design files are organized.
• Provide engineered design solutions from concept through project award.
• Develop and maintain finite element analysis (FEA) tools, primarily using Abaqus.
• Collaborate with Sales & Marketing, Procurement, Technical, Production and customers to define new product specifications.
• Prepare design work packages, including drawings, data sheets and specification documents.
• Review designs with FEED consultants/engineers and support submission processes.
• Participate in engineering clarification meetings and assist QA/QC with issue resolution.
• Oversee testing of new products, develop testing standards and analyse results.
• Undertake short overseas assignments when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering design.
• Proficiency with CAD SolidWorks and FEA Abaqus.
• Good understanding of product realization from development to production.
• Strong project management and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent problem‑solving, time‑management and communication skills.
• Interest or experience in maritime, infrastructure, engineering or manufacturing sectors.
• High level of integrity and strong work ethics.
