Dietitian

About the role

NUHS is hiring a Dietitian who reports to the Principal Dietitian. The role provides quality nutrition and dietetic services to patients living in the community, using a patient-centred approach and the principles of the social determinants of health.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nutrition assessment, support, counselling and education to patients and carers, individually or in groups
• Deliver nutrition interventions based on therapeutic diets by phone, virtual, home or centre visits
• Review nutrition progress and document patient management
• Take part in multidisciplinary team discussions and nutrition education programmes for patients, carers, the public and healthcare professionals
• Mentor and supervise junior Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians, and guide students in clinical teaching programmes
• Update patient education materials and review literature to keep evidence-based guidelines current
• Lead and take part in nutrition-related research and quality improvement programmes
• Plan and run training and orientation programmes, give guidance to administrative staff, handle customer feedback and complaints, and manage financial issues where applicable

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics
• Completed clinical dietetic internships in approved institutions
• Dietetic experience in public healthcare institutions is an added advantage
• Ability to apply nutrition and dietetic knowledge to patient management
• Good supervisory, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to continuing professional development

Required skills

• Familiarity with specialised dietetic disciplines
• Knowledge of food service operations
• Practical use of a nutrient analysis computer package
• Ability to plan, conduct and evaluate education sessions
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and customer-service orientation
