Director, Construction & Management Unit (CMU)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director to lead our Construction & Management Unit (CMU) within the Coastal Engineering & Management team. You will provide strategic direction and oversight for construction management, site delivery, technical governance, and client engagement across a diverse portfolio of coastal, marine, civil, structural, and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for CMU, overseeing construction delivery, site operations, technical governance, and organisational growth.
• Represent CMU in cross‑functional, regional, and corporate initiatives that support business objectives.
• Build and maintain executive‑level relationships with clients, government agencies (e.g., JTC, DSTA, HDB) and key stakeholders.
• Lead business planning, resource management, contract administration and management of contractors and sub‑consultants.
• Set strategic direction and optimise deployment of engineering resources across the project portfolio.
• Develop organisational capability through career and talent development of the CMU team.
• Drive excellence in project delivery, overseeing construction performance, site supervision quality, commercial outcomes, programme delivery and risk management.
• Ensure HSE compliance and adherence to codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support tender submissions, technical proposals and business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline recognised by professional bodies (e.g., BCA, IES, ACES, PE Board); professional registration preferred.
• Extensive experience in construction and site supervision for coastal, marine, civil & structural, geotechnical or infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in a senior leadership or project directorship role.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi‑disciplinary construction/site teams.
