Director, Finance - Singapore

About the role

CIBC is hiring a Director, Finance for its Finance Shared Services team in Singapore, which acts as a one-stop shop for the full suite of finance services for the Singapore office. The role supports the Head of Finance, Singapore, with accurate information and staff management across expense processing, regulatory and statutory reporting, profit and loss reporting and projects and initiatives for the Singapore branch and the Capital Market Service license entity.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of internal and external financial reporting, regulatory reporting, statutory reporting, profit and loss reporting and variance analysis
• Review new products and advise on regulatory and accounting structures and systems
• Prepare and submit regulatory reporting requirements to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on time
• Maintain good working relationships with internal and external auditors, advisors and regulators
• Apply financial controls such as review of suspense accounts, incentive compensation accounts, aged items, reconciliations and policy application
• Prepare and file financial statements and support the tax team with information for income tax returns and international transfer pricing
• Maintain financial reporting systems to aid automation and accuracy, and participate in projects from a finance perspective

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position
• Qualified CPA or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of MAS regulatory reporting requirements for wholesale banks and the CMS license
• Ability to work as a line manager to the Head of Finance Australia and report to the Head of Finance Singapore
• Legal eligibility to work in Singapore

Required skills

• Accounting knowledge of global markets products such as Global Credit Financing, FX, repo and bond trading
• Generally Accepted Accounting Principles covering local requirements; IFRS/Canadian requirements preferred
• Diverse product knowledge of wholesale banking products such as corporate loans, bonds/guarantees, deposits, securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, investment banking M&A and underwriting
• Financial reporting systems, including source systems, with proper control and reconciliation
