Director of Origination - Energy & Commodity Derivatives

About the role

This senior position leads the growth of a commodities derivatives origination platform, covering energy, renewables, power, and metals. The role sits at the intersection of financial markets and physical commodities, delivering sophisticated risk‑management and financial solutions to a global client base.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the regional origination strategy across multiple commodity asset classes.
• Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with producers, industrials, utilities, and financial institutions.
• Structure and execute complex, bespoke derivatives transactions, including long‑dated, multi‑commodity, and transition‑linked products.
• Collaborate with trading, portfolio management, credit, legal, and risk teams to integrate transactions into broader portfolios.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor a high‑performing origination team, ensuring commercial discipline and technical rigour.

Required profile

• University degree with 10+ years of experience in energy origination, structured trading, commodities sales, or a related financial‑markets environment.
• Proven track record of executing high‑value, complex transactions.
• Post‑graduate qualification in a quantitative or financial discipline is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of global energy and commodities markets and strong command of options and structured products.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, sound judgement on risk and regulatory matters, and a forward‑looking view on energy transition products.
