Credit Control Officer – Operations (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Credit Control Officer will manage a written‑off portfolio for a bank, ensuring recovery targets are met while delivering high‑quality service to customers. This 12‑month contract role combines analytical work, negotiation, and process improvement within a fast‑moving banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the written‑off portfolio to achieve individual and team performance targets.
• Contact customers to negotiate payment arrangements that maximise recovery and minimise credit loss.
• Review customer profiles and recommend remedial actions, including legal steps, settlement negotiations, skip‑tracing or bankruptcy.
• Prepare and dispatch reminder letters, statements of account, settlement letters, and other correspondence.
• Resolve customer complaints and queries within defined timeframes.
• Identify issues, irregularities and emerging risks, taking swift corrective action.
• Ensure compliance with bank policies, local laws and regulations.
• Leverage data‑analytics tools and digitalisation to provide insights and improve processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using Agile methodology, automation and risk‑mitigation techniques.
• Collaborate with the team to meet collective goals and performance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 6 months experience as a Credit Analyst or in a similar role.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
