Electrical & Physical Failure Analysis Technician (EFA/PFA)

About the role

Micron is looking for an Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) and Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) Technician to support products across new product introduction (NPI), qualification and high-volume manufacturing. A key part of the role is handling maverick material flagged by the Statistical Bin Limit (SBL) system, using data-driven evaluation and structured troubleshooting to recommend lot disposition and help reduce SBL fail rates.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze test data to support SBL-triggered investigations and carry out EFA and/or PFA actions, recommending and communicating lot dispositions to stakeholders.
• Document deviations and observations in the quality management system and keep working knowledge of test processes, equipment and product behavior.
• Use tools such as an IV curve tracer, micro-prober and bench tester to find root causes and failure mechanisms, and support site EFA including failure confirmation and data correlation.
• Perform physical failure analysis, including package de-processing, cross-sectioning, IMC measurement and defect localization, using tools such as Ion Miller, FIB, EDX, SEM, 2D/3D X-ray and Thermal EMMI.
• Capture images and data, write detailed FA reports, coordinate vendor tool maintenance and support lab readiness.
• Propose improvements to reduce SBL triggers and support productivity projects, and integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work.

Required profile

• Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in test failure analysis, a lab environment or manufacturing troubleshooting is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate clearly in a production environment.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Required skills

• Preferred: proficiency in FA tools and techniques (FIB, SEM, CSAM, EMMI, oscilloscope, I-V curve tracer, ATE).
