Engagement Manager, AISG
ntu · NTU Main Campus
Job description
About the role
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is recruiting an Engagement Manager for the Data Platform team within AI Products at AI Singapore (AISG), a national AI programme of the National Research Foundation. The team runs a data platform collecting multimodal language and cultural data, cataloguing datasets that help AI understand underrepresented languages and bringing together linguists, researchers, contributors and partner organisations across Asia and beyond. This is a self-directed, part-time role focused on outreach, growth and data acquisition, with considerable autonomy.
Key responsibilities
- Attract new users, contributors and traffic to the platform, reaching researchers, linguists, developers and underrepresented-language communities through research networks, developer platforms, regional AI groups and social channels.
- Conceive and deliver outreach campaigns and initiatives that raise awareness of the platform and its datasets.
- Serve as first point of contact for prospective contributors, explain what contributing involves and coordinate a smooth handover to the team.
- Encourage repeat contributions, support established contributors and turn first-time visitors into lasting participants.
- Foster constructive conversation in online forums and respond thoughtfully to contributors' and users' needs.
- Cultivate relationships with research and community partners and represent the platform credibly before academic, research and community stakeholders, online and at events.
- Develop and distribute content that stimulates participation, and monitor engagement signals such as new users, contributions, usage and referral traffic to refine the approach.
Required profile
- Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, the social sciences or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in community engagement, community management, developer relations or outreach, with a record of growing and sustaining an active community.
- Proven stakeholder and partnership management, and the ability to engage prospective data contributors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage audiences across cultures and time zones.
- Ability to judge the right mix of online, in-person and partner-led channels, and to plan and deliver events, programmes and campaigns.
- Sound grasp of engagement metrics and a high degree of self-direction with light oversight.
Bonus: experience in a technology, research or academic ecosystem; familiarity with underrepresented-language, open-data or open-source communities; relevant regional-language ability; or experience in Singapore's public sector or research programmes. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
