Engineer I (Maintenance) - GMP Plant Utilities

About the role

Amgen is hiring an Engineer I (Maintenance) at its Singapore manufacturing site in Tuas. The role provides field-facing technical support, troubleshooting and mechanical maintenance oversight for plant utilities and mechanical equipment in a GMP manufacturing environment. It sits above front-line craft leadership in technical scope and involves daily maintenance preparation, equipment walkdowns, job execution support and post-work verification. The position may require rotating day shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide field-based technical oversight of utilities and mechanical maintenance, including equipment walkdowns, live troubleshooting and technical resolution of equipment issues.
• Prioritize field issues, follow up on preventive maintenance execution and verify job completion quality.
• Work with System Owners and technicians to troubleshoot, review equipment condition, investigate recurring failures and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with Planning and Scheduling so work orders are field-ready, properly scoped and resourced within maintenance windows.
• Coordinate daily work execution with technicians and utility operations, including walkdowns, technical support during work and post-work verification.
• Guide technicians on complex mechanical work, gather feedback to improve job plans, work instructions, procedures, tools and spare parts.
• Support root cause analysis, CAPA execution and deviation handling for utilities, maintenance and calibration.
• Ensure work is documented according to Good Documentation Practice, including accurate field records, work order closeout and CMMS updates.
• Develop and improve maintenance procedures, work instructions and job plans.
• Build and run technical training and qualification programs for maintenance personnel in calibration and electrical disciplines, and assess technician proficiency.
• Oversee contractors and vendors, coordinate project handover, commissioning, qualification and system walkdowns, and define contractor technical expectations.
• Perform work safely in line with Amgen safety requirements, including LOTO, JHA, RA and EHS expectations.

Required profile

• Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of directly related experience, or Associate's degree and 4 years of directly related experience, or high school diploma / GED with 6 years of directly related experience.
• Proven experience in a GMP environment with awareness of safety, compliance, documentation and maintenance quality requirements.
• Ability to provide technical oversight and guide technicians and contractors without direct people-management accountability.
