Engineering Assistant, Group Biomedical Engineering

About the role

The Engineering Assistant supports the full lifecycle of medical equipment at the hospital, including commissioning of new equipment, breakdown and preventive maintenance, and de-commissioning. The role works alongside biomedical engineers and covers technical support, vendor oversight, fault investigation and spare parts management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to all hospital personnel on the commissioning, operation, maintenance and de-commissioning of medical equipment.
• Supervise specialist vendors and appointed contractors on maintenance works to ensure quality and compliance with required standards.
• Collect regular user feedback on the maintenance, performance, reliability and quality of medical equipment.
• Check, analyse and investigate faults, complaints and hazards, and help biomedical engineers plan and implement corrective actions.
• Manage stock and spares for frontline technical support and assist the stock supervisor with documentation.
• Help coordinate medical equipment projects with vendors, contractors and project consultants.
• Carry out other duties assigned by biomedical engineers.

Required profile

• Preferably a Diploma in Electronics / Biomedical Engineering or an equivalent engineering course.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Positive work attitude and ability to work with all levels of staff.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic knowledge of IT, such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
• An advantage to have basic understanding of cybersecurity and IT networks.
