Event Director – Exhibition & Conference Lead

About the role

The Event Director will own the strategy, sales, and operational delivery of exhibition and conference products for the Chinese market. Reporting to the VP, you will lead a cross‑functional team to enhance brand positioning, drive revenue growth, and ensure flawless event execution.

Key responsibilities

• Define the overall vision and strategic objectives for each show in line with VP direction.
• Design short‑ and long‑term sales plans, identify revenue opportunities, and set pricing strategies to increase year‑on‑year client spend.
• Develop and manage the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and produce monthly forecasts.
• Lead stakeholder management, including senior Chinese government officials, venue partners, and suppliers.
• Oversee floor planning, event operations, and post‑event reviews to drive continuous improvement.
• Support the formation of Executive and Technical Committees and recruit key members.
• Coordinate sales, marketing, content, and operations teams, reporting weekly progress.

Required profile

• Proven experience in event direction, exhibition or conference management, preferably in the Chinese market.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage senior government and industry leaders.
• Solid financial management capabilities, including budgeting and forecasting.
