Event Director – MAT Cover

About the role

The Event Director will lead the development and execution of exhibition and conference products for the Chinese market. This senior role combines strategic vision, stakeholder management, sales leadership, and operational oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Define the overall show vision and strategic objectives in line with VP direction.
• Design short‑ and long‑term sales strategies, identify revenue opportunities, and set pricing to drive year‑on‑year growth.
• Build and manage relationships with senior Chinese government officials, local industry stakeholders, venues and suppliers.
• Monitor industry trends, participate in third‑party events and adjust the product offering accordingly.
• Establish annual budgets, track monthly performance, forecast results and ensure debtors are collected before each show.
• Report weekly project progress across sales, marketing, content and operations to senior management.
• Lead market mapping, lead analysis, and distribution through Salesforce, securing agents and international pavilions.
• Oversee floor planning and event operations to meet stakeholder needs and ensure post‑event reviews generate improvement plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading large‑scale exhibitions or conferences, preferably in the Asian market.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including interaction with government officials and industry leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales and pricing strategies that achieve revenue targets.
• Solid financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, cost control and debt collection.
• Excellent communication and leadership capabilities to manage cross‑functional teams.
