Factory Automation Engineer (AMHS)

About the role

GlobalFoundries is looking for an Engineer, Factory Automation (AMHS) to support the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of automated material handling systems (AMHS) and material control systems (MCS) in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The role works with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, analyse system performance and implement automation solutions that improve factory productivity. Candidates without prior work experience are welcome to apply, as comprehensive training and development will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse AMHS and MCS system performance, availability trends and operational metrics to ensure reliable wafer transportation across the facility.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation equipment, software and control system issues.
• Drive and support continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades and automation enhancements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, Information Technology and equipment suppliers to support safe and effective factory automation operations.
• Follow all safety, environmental, health and security requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, Computer Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Preferred: prior internship or co-op experience, demonstrated leadership experience, project management skills, and knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, material handling systems, control systems, MES or semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Preferred: experience with data analysis tools, programming or scripting, and an interest in using AI tools to improve productivity.
