Faculty in Accounting (Financial & Sustainability Reporting)

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore's first University of Applied Learning, is inviting applications for one faculty position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. The appointment rank depends on the candidate's qualifications, professional standing, experience and achievements. The role sits in the Business, Communication and Design division and focuses on financial accounting and corporate reporting, especially emerging areas such as sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, financial instruments and consolidation accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum development and teaching in areas such as financial accounting, advanced financial reporting, sustainability and ESG reporting, carbon accounting, financial instruments accounting, corporate reporting, consolidation accounting and accounting standards and regulatory reporting.
• Undertake and lead research, scholarly and applied research in accounting and corporate reporting, develop industry, government and professional body collaborations, secure research funding and industry projects, and disseminate results through publications, reports, conferences and thought leadership.
• Engage with industry by building partnerships, supporting work-integrated learning and student industry projects, and developing executive education, continuing professional development and consultancy activities.

Required profile

• A Master's degree and/or PhD in Accounting, Sustainability or a related discipline is desirable; distinguished industry experience may also lead to consideration.
• Professional qualifications such as CA Singapore, CPA Australia, ACA, ACCA or equivalent are advantageous.
• Ideally at least three years of relevant industry experience in financial reporting, sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, financial instruments or regulatory reporting; substantial industry leadership experience is valued for Associate Professor and Professor appointments.

Required skills

• Expertise in carbon accounting, sustainability and ESG reporting, financial instruments accounting, consolidation accounting, financial reporting and accounting standards, and corporate reporting.
• Experience in curriculum development and delivering industry-relevant accounting education.
