Farm Technician

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Farm Technician to maintain and repair the electrical and mechanical systems that keep our vertical farm running efficiently. The role involves hands‑on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and supporting new automation installations to minimise downtime and boost productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all farm equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including motors, pumps, PLCs and control circuits.
• Inspect and test safety devices and ensure compliance with performance standards.
• Monitor equipment performance using sensors, dashboards and manual checks, and keep accurate maintenance logs.
• Report irregularities or risks promptly to the Operations Manager.
• Assist the farming and operations teams during repairs to minimise disruption.
• Support the installation and commissioning of new automation or farming systems.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects aimed at increasing farm reliability and productivity.

Required profile

• Diploma or NITEC in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in an industrial or agricultural setting.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Electrical circuits, PLC programming, motors and pumps.
• Basic knowledge of sensors, IoT devices and farming software.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, commissioning, construction drawing and system integration.
• Experience with robotics, process automation, soldering, wiring and troubleshooting.
