Food Laboratory Assistant – Yishun

About the role

We are looking for a Food Laboratory Assistant to support practical food lessons at Yishun Town Secondary School. The role involves preparing ingredients, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring the laboratory is tidy and ready for daily classes.

Key responsibilities

• Cut and portion ingredients according to teachers' recipes for NFS practical lessons.
• Store food items following food‑safety guidelines and maintain refrigerator cleanliness.
• Clear unwanted packaging, keep the lab tidy, and ensure all cookers are switched off after lessons.
• Check that the main gas supply is turned off at the end of each day.
• Wash rags, perform inventory checks, and manage stock of consumables such as detergents and soaps.
• Assist with food preparation for projects, competitions and special events organized by the NFS department.
• Receive and store food deliveries, contact suppliers for missing or non‑fresh items, and handle food ordering for practical sessions.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by FCE teachers.

Required profile

• PSLE certificate.
• Passed Singapore Food Agency (SFA) Food Safety Course Level 1.
• Proficient in reading and speaking English.
• At least 1 year of relevant kitchen experience (as of 1 January 2022).
• Knowledge of food handling and ability to portion ingredients for lessons.
• Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Required skills

• Singapore Food Agency (SFA) Food Safety Course Level 1 certification.

What we offer

• Full‑time fixed‑term contract from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029.
• Monthly salary ranging from SGD 1,800 to SGD 2,300.
• On‑site work at Yishun Town Secondary School.
