Food Service Worker

About the role

The Food Service Worker supports the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) food centers in Singapore by preparing, serving, and selling a limited menu of food and beverage items. This position works in a fast‑paced environment, interacting directly with patrons and ensuring a clean, safe dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Accept food orders and prepare simple items such as sandwiches, pizzas, and salads.
• Cut, slice, chop, and dice vegetables, meats, cheeses, and other ingredients according to standardized recipes.
• Stock beverage coolers, serve alcoholic drinks when required, and operate coffee, espresso, and blender equipment.
• Set up food service counters, steam tables, and dining areas with hot and cold items.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables, counters, floors, kitchen equipment, and waste areas.
• Receive and store supply deliveries, unload trucks, and coordinate food and beverage for special events.
• Process sales transactions using a POS system, handle cash, and prepare end‑of‑shift reports.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 18 and able to pass a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI/T1).
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow detailed instructions.
• Experience with tidiness, safety, and sanitation in food preparation areas.

Required skills

• Operation of POS (point‑of‑sale) systems.
• Use of espresso machines, blenders, and mixers.
• Cash handling and basic accounting of sales.
• Food preparation and portioning according to recipes.
