Full Professor – Public Policy & Governance (Tenure/Practice Track)

About the role

The SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS) seeks a Full Professor in Public Policy and/or Public Governance to join its Political Science group. The appointment, starting January 2027 or as soon as practicable, will support the launch of the new Master of Public Governance and Leadership (MPGL) programme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality undergraduate and graduate teaching in public policy, governance, and related fields.
• Lead curriculum development and pedagogical innovation for the MPGL, including specialised tracks on digital transformation and sustainability governance.
• Conduct and publish scholarly research that addresses contemporary governance challenges.
• Engage with government, multilateral organisations, and industry partners to enhance the School’s applied impact.
• Potentially serve as the founding Director of the MPGL, overseeing strategic development and programme management.

Required profile

• Distinguished record of scholarship in public policy, governance, or related disciplines.
• Significant senior experience in government, multilateral organisations, or policy‑facing roles (highly encouraged).
• Proven excellence in graduate education, curriculum design, and academic leadership.
• Ability to attract research funding and build interdisciplinary collaborations.
