Intern - Facilities Mechanical Engineering

About the role

Micron Technology, Inc. is offering an internship in Facilities Mechanical Engineering at its Fab 10 facility in Singapore. The project focuses on the characterisation, detection and mitigation of exhaust plumes in a semiconductor manufacturing environment, applying mechanical engineering principles, data analysis and engineering evaluation techniques. Successful interns may be considered for future internship or graduate employment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct plume observations and collect engineering data, and analyse plume sources and operating conditions.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to evaluate plume behaviour and mitigation approaches.
• Evaluate plume detection methods and assess engineering options for plume reduction or elimination.
• Identify energy-efficiency opportunities for mechanical exhaust systems.
• Prepare engineering analyses in Excel and conceptual layouts or sketches in AutoCAD where applicable, and use AI-enabled tools to support analysis and documentation.
• Deliver an engineering study report, an evaluation of detection methods, an assessment of reduction options, an energy-efficiency assessment and a final presentation with recommendations.

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Ability to commit to a full-time internship of 5 months from January to May 2027.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills, and effective communication and technical documentation skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Excel and AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AI tools or AI-enabled workflows is advantageous.
