Intern, HVAC AI Research

About the role

Bosch Corporate Research develops, examines and enhances new systems, components and technologies, with about 1,700 researchers and engineers worldwide. The internship is based in the Singapore research centre and focuses on sustainable HVAC and thermal systems, combining domain-specific and AI development work, especially data analytics and AI algorithms. It covers system-level energy management and system reliability, using AI/ML for data analysis, visualization and validation.

Key responsibilities

• Research literature on AI and GenAI applications in HVAC systems, focusing on energy efficiency, fault diagnosis and advanced control strategies.
• Develop intelligent functions with AI/ML to analyze data, improve diagnostics and optimize control strategies.
• Integrate software-hardware modules for field testing and validation of solutions.
• Work with international researchers, engineers and fellow interns to turn findings into practical applications.
• Take part in team meetings, discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Prepare and present project updates, technical documentation and findings to the team and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Full-time internship of four to six months.
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, international team.

Required skills

• Python, with working knowledge of Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis and machine learning on real-world datasets.
• Time-series and sensor data: cleaning, feature engineering, anomaly detection, forecasting and classification.
• Preferred: C or C++, IoT technologies, HVAC basics, multimodal sensing, data visualization tools, dashboards, databases, APIs or version control.
