Intern - MSB Process & Equipment Engineer

About the role

Micron is looking for an Assembly Process and Equipment Engineering intern in Bendemeer, Singapore, to work on a project titled "Assembly Output and Yield Optimization for Cost Improvement". Under the guidance of experienced engineers, the intern studies semiconductor assembly processes, identifies process variations, analyzes potential failure modes and evaluates improvement opportunities. The project covers experimental planning, data collection, statistical analysis and effectiveness monitoring, and also explores how data analytics, Generative AI and Agentic AI can improve engineering workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Study the operating principles and process controls of selected semiconductor assembly equipment.
• Analyze assembly process, equipment or material opportunities using engineering data and structured problem-solving methods.
• Develop an experimental matrix and run controlled evaluations to find factors affecting output and yield.
• Apply data analytics to evaluate results and formulate a technical proposal.
• Implement an approved solution in a controlled setting and monitor its effectiveness against engineering indicators.
• Explore AI-enabled methods for faster data analysis and pattern identification.

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing or a related engineering field.
• Ability to commit to a full-time 5-month internship from January to May 2027.
• Positive learning attitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in applying AI tools to engineering analysis and productivity.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of engineering statistics, experimental planning or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Advantageous: Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments or engineering statistical analysis.

Interns may be considered for future full-time positions depending on business needs, role availability, academic completion and demonstrated capabilities. Deliverables include an experimental plan, a data analysis report, a technical proposal and an effectiveness-monitoring summary.
