Intern - SSD Assembly Process & Equipment Engineering

About the role

Micron Technology, Inc. is offering an internship in its SSD Assembly Process & Equipment Engineering department in Singapore. The project, titled "AI-Enabled SSD Depanel Process Characterization and Optimization", characterizes process variations in SSD depanel operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment, studying the interaction between process parameters, equipment performance and product quality. It covers Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, process characterization and data-driven optimization, with an exploration of AI-enabled approaches to speed up engineering analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct process characterization studies for SSD depanel operations using Design of Experiments (DOE)
• Analyze process and equipment data to identify critical inputs, sources of variation and optimization opportunities
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and equipment teams to validate findings and evaluate improvements
• Develop data visualization and reporting tools to share process insights
• Evaluate AI, Generative AI or AI-assisted tools for automated analysis, report generation and knowledge capture
• Produce a comprehensive characterization study, an established operating window with statistical support, and a final project report and presentation

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
• Ability to commit to a full-time 5-month internship from January to May 2027
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication skills and teamwork
• Interest in DOE, process characterization and process optimization

Required skills

• Foundational knowledge of process engineering, statistics or manufacturing systems
• Data analysis tools such as Python, JMP, Minitab, SQL, Power BI or equivalents
• Exposure to AI or Generative AI tools is advantageous
