Intern - Strategic Layout Planning

About the role

Micron Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of memory and storage products, is offering an internship in its Planning / Strategic Layout department in Singapore. The project focuses on improving strategic layout planning through site assessment, cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, automation and AI-enabled process improvement. It gives practical exposure to manufacturing layout considerations and how physical and infrastructure constraints shape layout decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct structured onsite assessments with Facilities and Tool Owners to understand layout feasibility and identify physical and infrastructure constraints.
• Evaluate proposed layouts against actual site conditions and document observations for project analysis.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering and Facilities stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate proposed layout changes and evaluate constraints.
• Develop automation, dashboards or data management solutions using tools such as Python, Power Automate or SQL.
• Explore AI-enabled tools, including Generative AI or AI Assistants, to improve data analysis, information organisation and reporting.
• Deliver a documented assessment of layout requirements and constraints, an analysis of data and improvement opportunities, a functional automation or dashboard, and a final project presentation.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
• Ability to commit to a full-time internship of at least 5 months.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Familiarity with programming, data analysis or automation tools such as Python, Power Automate or SQL through coursework, projects or prior experience.
• Advantageous: familiarity with AI, Generative AI, LLMs or AI assistants, and basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
