Intern - Vertical Product Engineer (VPE)

About the role

Micron's Product Engineering organization develops and qualifies memory and storage products. This internship is part of the Storage Technology and Products Group, focusing on NAND Flash, high-speed memory and solid-state drives. The project covers product yield, test coverage and failure analysis, and runs for 5 months full time.

Key responsibilities

• Study an assigned NAND Flash, high-speed memory or SSD product and document its test, qualification and characterization requirements.
• Analyze test results, yield data or electrical measurements to find improvement opportunities.
• Run circuit simulations, yield evaluations and electrical failure analyses under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Develop or improve test coverage, screening methods, data-analysis scripts or automated reporting.
• Explore an AI-enabled workflow for engineering triage, anomaly detection or test-result analysis.
• Deliver a documented analysis, simulation and characterization results, a prototype script/dashboard/workflow or AI solution, and a final technical report and presentation.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Microelectronics, Data Science or a related engineering discipline.
• Ability to commit to a full-time 5-month internship.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of CMOS device physics, circuit fundamentals, memory technology or SSD architecture.
• Familiarity with circuit simulation, CAD tools, test-flow architecture and component- or system-level testing.
• Advantageous: Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau; machine learning, generative AI and large language models.
