Intern, Youth2Seniors, Active Ageing Centre

About the role

NTUC Health, a provider of active ageing, senior day care, nursing home and home care services in Singapore, is offering an internship at its Active Ageing Centre (Y2S, Youth2Seniors). The intern gains hands-on experience in community-based eldercare, supporting the planning and delivery of social, wellness and engagement programmes that promote healthy and active ageing. Applications are open throughout the year.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating and running centre-based activities, workshops and events
• Engage with seniors through conversation and participation in daily programmes
• Support documentation of programme attendance, feedback and evaluation data
• Help coordinate outreach and door-knocking to reach vulnerable or isolated seniors
• Assist with volunteer management, including onboarding, scheduling and appreciation activities
• Take part in community events and health screenings where applicable
• Shadow staff during case work or home visits where permitted
• Carry out ad-hoc administrative duties to support daily centre operations

Required profile

• Students in Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Community Development or related fields
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with patience and compassion for seniors
• Service-oriented, team player who can multi-task and meet deadlines
• Comfortable with community outreach and interacting with seniors in groups and one-on-one
• Prior volunteering, service-learning or caregiving experience is an advantage

Required skills

• Proficiency in Google Workspace applications
• Nice to have: basic arts and crafts, fitness, music or digital literacy skills to support activities
