Internal Audit Officer

About the role

The Internal Audit Officer will support the Internal Audit Manager in delivering comprehensive audit services for the Town Council. This position focuses on risk assessment, control testing, and ensuring compliance with statutory and governance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed risk assessments and identify existing controls.
• Perform audit procedures, including testing and interviewing, to verify control effectiveness.
• Analyze control efficiency, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
• Document audit findings, track issues, and ensure timely closure.
• Provide support to external auditors during year‑end financial audits.
• Enhance internal audit standards and practices within the Town Council.
• Check compliance with Corporate Governance regulations, the Town Councils Act, financial rules, and other statutory requirements.
• Facilitate and support the Audit Committee.

Required profile

• Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in internal or external audit or a comparable role.
