IT Engineer - Data Services

About the role

Micron is hiring an IT Engineer focused on data services, supporting its manufacturing and engineering database systems. The role covers installation, maintenance, performance tuning, backup and security, incident management, and on-call support, with on-site work at the Fab 10W facility.

Key responsibilities

• Install, upgrade and patch database systems, and diagnose and resolve database errors to ensure high availability.
• Manage database access, backups and compliance with database and security standards.
• Make changes to critical databases used in manufacturing and engineering, and support incident, request, change and problem management.
• Meet SLAs for incidents and service requests, and meet targets such as breach case targets, MTTR and first-level resolution.
• Provide on-call support, including outside office hours.
• Run business continuity planning, capacity forecasting, disaster recovery exercises, failover testing and recovery procedures.
• Work with site customers on new database requirements, problem resolution and data flow requests.
• Tune database performance, monitor it proactively, analyse cases to prevent recurring issues and review monitoring.
• Create and manage database reports, visualisations and dashboards, and develop operating procedures.
• Build automation to improve productivity and reliability, and recommend emerging database technologies.
• Take part in worldwide technical sharing and reference architecture alignment, and integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Good oral and written communication, strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

Required skills

• Advantageous: hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases, Linux and Windows.
• Programming and scripting in Java, PowerShell and Python.
• Strong command of SQL and SQL Server tools.
