Java Backend Engineer

About the role

Capgemini is seeking a motivated Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications. You will work in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, high‑performance solutions for financial services clients.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain Java‑based microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Implement event‑driven architectures using Kafka and other messaging platforms.
• Provide L3 production support, including troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Participate in code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and share knowledge within the team.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 3–7 years of hands‑on backend development experience.
• Experience delivering solutions in a financial services or similarly regulated environment is a plus.

Required skills

• Java (JDK 17+), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud.
• Microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Kafka or comparable event‑streaming platforms.
• Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platform fundamentals.
• Multithreading, concurrency, performance tuning.
• SOLID principles, design patterns, clean coding.
• OAuth2, JWT, encryption, secure coding practices.
