Junior Mechanical Engineer – Diagnostics Development Hub

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Junior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative clinical diagnostic products. You will work in a fast‑paced environment alongside mechanical, electrical, software, and assay engineers to design, prototype, test, and improve mechanical components and prototype systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts, enclosures, fixtures, and prototype assemblies using 3D CAD.
• Build, assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototype systems in the laboratory and workshop.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for 3D printing, machining, moulding, and sheet‑metal fabrication.
• Perform basic mechanical testing, including fit, assembly, dimensional checks, reliability observations, and usability evaluations.
• Document designs, test results, drawings, bill of materials, and prototype changes accurately.
• Support design iterations based on test findings, manufacturing feedback, and cross‑functional input.
• Assist with data collection, processing, and test automation using Python where applicable.
• Participate actively in technical discussions, design reviews, and problem‑solving activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, product development, prototype engineering, or R&D.
• Experience in a startup, research laboratory, or fast‑paced R&D environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Solid Edge.
• Hands‑on experience with prototype fabrication, including 3D printing and basic machining.
