Lead Biotechnologist (Central Services)

About the role

AbbVie is hiring a Lead Biotechnologist for its Central Services biologics production facility in Singapore. The role covers cGMP manufacturing operations, including set-up and calibration work with engineers, rework and quality testing, accurate batch documentation and shift leadership. It also stands in as Deputy for the Manufacturing Supervisor in their absence.

Key responsibilities

• Own the central services stream area, including buffer/media preparation, autoclave, glasswash and cleaning processes, and sampling of raw materials
• Plan and run manufacturing operations using validated programs such as LIMS, SAP, DeltaV, POMSnet and automated control systems
• Resolve issues proactively, recommend and implement new procedures, and drive projects that streamline processes
• Ensure a safe work environment in line with EHS policies, lead safety risk assessments or process hazard analyses, and initiate demand work orders
• Keep batch records complete and accurate, resolve document errors quickly, prevent human error, and prepare the plant for regulatory audits
• Help plan shifts, assign tasks to biotechnologists, and represent the shift in cross-functional meetings
• Coach and train other biotechnologists (100% trainer competency) and help develop training materials

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a science, pharmacy or engineering field, or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in biologics or pharmaceutical manufacturing, including 3+ years in central services (buffer/media preparation, autoclave, glasswash, cleaning, sampling)
• Experience leading a shift team
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, good communication skills, and experience in shift work
