Lead Optical Transceiver Firmware Engineer

About the role

Jabil is looking for a Lead Optical Transceiver Firmware Engineer who develops and maintains the embedded software for optical transceivers so that they operate reliably and efficiently. The role calls for a deep understanding of both hardware and software, covering design, implementation, testing and debugging of firmware.

Key responsibilities

• Firmware development: write, debug and test firmware for optical transceivers, typically using C or C++
• Hardware integration: work with hardware engineers so the firmware works seamlessly with the transceiver hardware
• Testing and validation: thoroughly test firmware against performance and reliability requirements
• Problem solving: debug and resolve firmware and hardware integration issues
• Performance optimization: improve speed, efficiency and power consumption
• Documentation: maintain detailed documentation of firmware code and functionality

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Relevant experience in firmware development, embedded systems and optical transceivers is highly desirable
• A Master's degree or Ph.D. may be preferred or required for more senior positions
