Lead Software Engineer – Global Portfolio Holdings Tech

About the role

Join an agile team within JPMorgan Chase’s Global Portfolio Holdings Technology group as a Lead Software Engineer. You will design, build, and deliver high‑performance, secure, and scalable technology products that drive critical business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Java‑based microservices using reactive, non‑blocking paradigms.
• Architect and operate scalable systems leveraging Kafka, IBM MQ, Kubernetes, Redis, Amazon MSK, and AWS services.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI), and ensure robust logging, auditability, security, and monitoring.
• Participate in API design sessions, select appropriate design patterns, and guide integration approaches.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce TDD/BDD practices, and validate service scalability and resilience through mock and performance testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, growth‑oriented culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering distributed, real‑time systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Java (self‑rated 8/10 or higher) with a hands‑on coding mindset.
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps toolchains, and agile, test‑driven delivery.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
