Lead Software Engineer – Real-Time Payments

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to drive the design and delivery of its Real‑Time Payments (RTP) platform. You will work on mission‑critical financial infrastructure that processes high‑volume, low‑latency transactions across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Own detailed design and implementation of features, services, or subsystems within the RTP product.
• Apply reference architectures and patterns such as microservices and event‑driven design.
• Translate functional and non‑functional requirements into production‑ready solutions.
• Participate in technical design reviews and make technology decisions balancing speed, risk, and maintainability.
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery from design through production support.
• Remain hands‑on for complex integrations and performance‑sensitive components.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance standards.
• Coach engineers and raise the overall engineering bar.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a senior software engineer, preferably in payments or financial services.
• Proven ability to lead technical execution for a product or team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a focus on reliability and operability.
