Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Cybersecurity)

About the role

Singapore Polytechnic is recruiting a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity. The academic must combine relevant knowledge and industry experience with the ability to guide students in building their own understanding, and show a passion for working with youths and adult learners. The role involves developing the curriculum, introducing new courses, taking part in consultancy and applied research projects, and handling administrative work linked to teaching and school strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lessons, create teaching and assessment materials and facilitate learning for youths and adult learners.
• Develop and maintain new and existing curricula, reviewing them regularly and recommending improvements that enhance learning, performance and employability.
• Stay up to date with cybersecurity trends and developments.
• Support the School's strategic initiatives through committee work and projects such as process improvement and the development and management of new courses.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in cybersecurity, software development, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, systems or network engineering, digital forensics or related fields; candidates with a strong technical foundation and interest in cybersecurity are encouraged to apply.
• Passion for education and strong interest in teaching and mentoring youths and adult learners.
• Self-driven, independent and able to work effectively in a team.
• Early-career IT and computer science professionals with strong technical aptitude are welcome; training and professional development are provided.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, IT security best practices and standards such as NIST, CIS Controls and ISO 27001.
• Programming, scripting, automation or software development experience in at least one language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Java, C/C++, PowerShell).
• Membership in a recognised information security or cybersecurity professional body, and certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, OSCP, Security+, CEH or QISP, are an advantage.
