Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Intelligent Robotics

About the role

Nanyang Polytechnic is recruiting a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Intelligent Robotics within its School of Engineering. The role strengthens the department's capability in embodied AI, hands-on development of embodied intelligent systems, applying AI to real-world robotics and mechatronics, and system-level design and integration of intelligent robotic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver PET and CET curricula and develop course content covering curriculum design, delivery and project supervision in Embodied AI, Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Design and Advanced Simulation and Modelling.
• Design, review and maintain learning units on Embodied AI, including perception, learning, decision-making and control in robotic and mechatronic systems.
• Supervise and mentor learners in applied Embodied AI projects where AI models are integrated with sensing, actuation and real-world robotic platforms.
• Coach and mentor learners and contribute to learner development and capability-building activities.
• Identify, initiate and lead industry collaborations, applied research and innovation initiatives related to embodied and intelligent systems.
• Plan, lead and manage industry and applied projects, and supervise learners involved in them.
• Lead or represent the department in committees and carry out administrative or management duties such as outreach, industry engagement and overseas educational trips.

Required profile

• A relevant qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant industry or applied experience in fields such as Embodied AI, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Systems or Simulation.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of: embodied AI, building/integrating/deploying intelligent robotic or mechatronic systems, applying AI or machine learning to robotics, mechanical design for robotics, mechatronic system design and simulation, robotic systems development, CAE/FEA design analysis, sustainability-driven engineering design.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with good interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to turn hands-on system development and applied engineering practice into effective teaching and learning.
