Legal Counsel

About the role

Huawei is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support across commercial, regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters for its operations in Singapore and the wider region. The role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on regulatory requirements, managing disputes, and supporting business units with legal policy implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate legal documents related to the company’s business.
• Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on marketing, competition, IP protection, trade secrets, and data privacy.
• Ensure compliance with Singapore statutes such as the Resource Sustainability Act, Personal Data Protection Act, and Cybersecurity Act.
• Liaise with regulators and authorities in Singapore and other operating countries.
• Manage disputes and litigation, including coordination with external counsel.
• Deliver legal updates and training to management and business units.
• Oversee external counsel engagements and related expenses.
• Handle ad‑hoc legal matters as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB/JD) or equivalent qualification.
• 5–7 years of post‑qualification experience as a legal counsel.
• Qualified to practice law in Singapore, the UK, the US, Australia, another common‑law jurisdiction, or China (depending on experience).
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and lead complex legal projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) to collaborate with regional stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Self‑motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently under pressure.
