Machine Learning Engineer I – Message Security Products

About the role

Abnormal AI is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer I to join the Misdirected Email Detection team. The role focuses on building end‑to‑end ML solutions that prevent accidental data loss by detecting misdirected outbound emails.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product, tech lead and engineering stakeholders to align deliverables with roadmap milestones and ensure successful GA launches.
• Own the full ML lifecycle – data wrangling, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment and monitoring – delivering iterative improvements with measurable reliability.
• Run rigorous offline and online experiments, set thresholds, conduct error analysis and monitor post‑launch performance.
• Maintain high‑quality technical documentation, communicate across time zones and participate in on‑call rotation for detection efficacy.

Required profile

• BS degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Information Systems or a related quantitative field.
• 1+ years of experience building and operating applied ML features in production systems.
• Proven ability to develop end‑to‑end ML pipelines, interrogate production data and launch targeted experiments.
• Strong written and asynchronous communication skills and ability to work independently in a distributed team.
