Manager, Global Merchandise Sourcing - Disney Consumer Products

About the role

The Manager, Global Merchandise Sourcing is based in the Singapore office of Disney Consumer Products, which brings Disney brands and franchises to life through products such as toys, apparel, books and apps. The Global Merchandise Sourcing team manages apparel development and production end to end, from tech packs and samples to bulk production and shipment to Disney Parks and Disney Stores. The manager oversees apparel categories and supports the Senior Manager, anticipating market shifts and mitigating risk.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute short- and long-term sourcing strategies, set priorities and objectives, and build factory and supplier relationships, including travel to key sourcing regions
• Drive digital product creation, including 3D garment simulation and virtual sampling, to shorten development cycles
• Negotiate costing, propose value engineering options and track production, troubleshooting delays
• Manage the development process, communicate milestones and deadlines, and ensure products meet Disney quality standards
• Collaborate with the US-based Sourcing team, Quality Assurance, and Design teams on market exploration, root cause analysis and trend research
• Maintain a stable, socially compliant supply base meeting ILS MCS and regulatory standards

Required profile

• 8 to 10 years' experience in global sourcing and/or merchandising, including merchandise sourcing, production management, fabric sourcing and garment development
• Bachelor's degree; apparel, textiles or a related field is a plus
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin or native dialects to work with Asian stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and strategy skills, and ability to influence internal stakeholders

Required skills

• Knowledge of product construction standards, materials and manufacturing processes
• Experience with 3D garment tools such as CLO and Browzwear (exposure to 3D product creation tools preferred)
• Solid costing, negotiation and analytical skills
• Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, MicroCharts, etc.)
