Manager - Supplier Engineering (Mechanical & Print and Pack)

About the role

The Manager, Supplier Engineering leads a team responsible for supplier performance, manufacturing process capability, product quality and supply continuity. The role provides people, technical and operational leadership across new product introduction, sustaining engineering, supplier improvement and business-critical supply activities, working with Product Development, Quality, GSA, Planning, Manufacturing and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop Supplier Engineers across experience levels and manufacturing technologies, set expectations, hire for autonomy and build a balanced team
• Balance resources across NPI, core, supplier performance and supply continuity, partner with other functions and represent Supplier Engineering in project reviews and escalations
• Manage supplier performance through KPIs, reviews, improvement plans and recovery actions, and assess and mitigate supplier risks
• Provide technical leadership across moulding, LSR, stamping, extrusion, assembly and automation; ensure processes are developed, qualified and validated
• Manage supplier-initiated changes, SPV and PPAP activities, CAPAs and compliance with the ResMed Quality Management System, GMP and regulatory requirements
• Drive continuous improvement, use of digital tools and data analytics, and lead change

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in engineering or a related technical discipline
• Five or more years of manufacturing, supplier engineering, quality engineering or process engineering experience
• Experience leading or managing professional engineers, and working with suppliers or contract manufacturers
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
• Preferred: experience in a highly regulated industry such as medical devices, and experience across multiple manufacturing technologies and NPI

Required skills

• Manufacturing process development, validation, change control and supplier quality systems
• Preferred: Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, APQP, A3, 8D, DMAIC, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, DOE, PPAP
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and risk-based decision-making
