Manpower Support Officer - Library Services

About the role

Civica, a global organisation of over 5,000 employees providing cloud software to public services, is hiring a Manpower Support Officer for its Business Services Delivery in Singapore. The role covers day-to-day library operations, the Library Automation System and support for library information services, including circulation, cataloguing and programme delivery. It also involves providing short- and long-term relief support to schools across Singapore when their regular librarian is unavailable.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure efficient processing and circulation of library resources for students and other patrons
• Shelve materials and read shelves according to recognised standards such as DDC for school libraries
• Catalogue and process new materials promptly
• Create promotional materials and displays supporting the school curriculum and library programmes
• Conduct library programmes and activities
• Generate regular reports on loans, overdue items, fines and other collection statistics
• Assist patrons with queries and follow up on overdue, damaged or lost books, including withdrawing, repairing or reconditioning materials
• Stocktake and weed library materials
• Maintain good housekeeping, tidy the library and keep shelf signs clear and accurate

Required profile

• 4 GCE 'O' level passes, including English
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, and enjoyment of working with students and teachers
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Openness to learning to operate the Spydus Library System
• Comfortable working independently
• Reasonably fit, as stooping, bending, lifting and reaching is required; able to travel to different schools across Singapore
